Mar 2022 China polyester yarn exports sustained the sharp rise

Polyester yarn 1) Export China polyester yarn exports in Mar amounted to 44kt, up 17% on the year and 40% on the month. The big increase on the year was mainly because polyester yarn experienced sharp ups and downs as pulse and the exports shrank greatly last Mar, and the increase on the month was due to the holiday for Spring Festival in Feb. Among the total, polyester single yarn took up 19kt, up 3.7% on the year; polyester ply yarn 15kt, up 50.8% on the year and polyester sewing thread 2.9kt, up 7.7% on the year.     Polyester single yarn shared a bit less while the shares of polyester ply yarn increased 2% and that of polyester sewing thread kept stable.     Polyester single yarn was mainly exported to Middle East and Southeast Asia and ply yarn mainly to Southeast Asia, which did not change much compared with the past years.     In terms of the origin, Fujian occupied a half of the shares in polyester single yarn, followed by Jiangsu and Zhejiang; and Hubei still dominated the export origins of polyester ply yarn, followed by Zhejiang and Jiangxi.     2) Import China polyester yarn imports totaled 293mt, down 17.8% on the year, of which there were 134 tons of polyester single yarn, 141 tons of polyester ply yarn and 18 tons of polyester sewing thread.     Polyester/cotton yarn In Mar 2022, China polyester/cotton yarn exports reached 3073mt, up 10.6% on the year and 19.6% on the month. In fact, it is half a month at least from customers’ placing orders to delivering, so Mar export data more reflected the actual situation during Feb to early Mar. According to yarn spinners, the export orders in Mar were plain, especially in the second half month. In addition, Pakistan and Middle East will have Ramadan in mid-Apr, further reducing export orders. Therefore, Apr exports may be poor. The spinners are gradually burdened with the quick rise of product inventory.
